Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Magic of Literacy believes every child, parent, volunteer and supporter should be able to use this website. We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA.

What we have done

  • The site can be used with a keyboard alone, with a skip link and visible focus outlines.
  • Pages use headings, landmarks and labels so screen readers can move through them.
  • Photos have written descriptions, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text and controls are designed to meet WCAG color-contrast requirements.
  • Moving content respects your device’s “reduce motion” setting, and the photo slideshow has a pause button.
  • The news video includes captions.
  • Automated accessibility testing and keyboard testing are part of how we check the site.

Accessibility options on this site

Use the round accessibility button in the bottom-left corner of any page to open the accessibility panel. You can enlarge content, increase text spacing, switch to an easy-read or dyslexia-friendly font, use a reading mask or reading guide, stop animations, strengthen keyboard focus, enlarge click areas and the cursor, highlight links, and change colors (high contrast, grayscale, inverted, soft colors, and color-vision support). Your choices are saved on your own device and never sent to us.

Known limitations

  • Some content comes from other services, such as the embedded promo video (YouTube) and the news video (WILX). We can’t control how those players work, though we choose services that offer captions.
  • The color-vision support filters are approximations and may not suit everyone.

Tell us about a problem
